Fletcher: The world needs to wake up and act
New York, August 14 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher, together with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, chaired a global humanitarian meeting on the Ebola outbreak.
UN Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher provided information on the current state of the Ebola outbreak and the steps the international community needs to take.
Referring to the high-level meeting he co-chaired with Ghebreyesus and emphasizing the importance of the response on the ground, Fletcher said, "This crisis is real and growing. Our teams on the front lines are carrying out brave and vital work."
Pointing out that the current response is insufficient, Fletcher issued an urgent appeal to the international community, saying, "But I must make this clear: it is not enough. The world needs to wake up and act."
