In his message, Fiala said: "Today we celebrate Victory Day. It is a day when we remember the end of World War II in Europe, and above all, it is a day to honor the brave people who stood against evil and fought for peace and our freedom. They did not submit to the dictator, they did not lay down their arms; they fought to establish a just and lasting peace. Peace, freedom, and democracy do not exist by themselves – it is our daily duty to protect them."
