Claim of widespread damage at US bases in the Middle East
According to a satellite analysis published by The Washington Post, more than 200 buildings and pieces of equipment at US military facilities in the Middle East were found to have been damaged following the clashes with Iran.
According to CCTV, The Washington Post claimed in an analysis based on satellite imagery that widespread damage had occurred to US military assets in the Middle East.
According to the report, during the clashes that began at the end of February and escalated with US and Israeli operations against Iran, damage was identified in at least 228 US military buildings and pieces of equipment. These assets included hangars, barracks, fuel depots, military aircraft, as well as radar, communication and air defense systems.
The analysis stated that by April 14, 15 US military facilities in the region had been affected, with damage to 217 buildings and the loss of 11 pieces of equipment. More than half of the damage was reported to be concentrated around the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and three bases in Kuwait.
According to military experts, the emerging picture shows that the United States underestimated Iran’s attack capabilities, especially its modern warfare capabilities involving unmanned aerial vehicles. It was noted that Iran’s one-way attack drones, despite carrying smaller payloads, are capable of making more precise strikes and are harder to detect.
The report also stated that personnel levels at some US bases had not yet returned to normal, leading commanders to consider relocating troops to safer areas and reducing operational capacity.
