Budrys: The Baltic states stand in full solidarity with Ukraine
Vilnius, April 10 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys, in a statement on behalf of the Baltic states, rejected Russia’s disinformation campaign and called on Moscow to end its occupation in Ukraine.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys issued a statement reflecting the joint position of the foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
Rejecting Russia’s claims, Budrys said: “We, the Foreign Ministers of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, firmly reject as completely unfounded the ongoing Russian disinformation campaign against our countries.”
Stating that the Baltic states have not been used for drone attacks, Budrys said: “The Baltic states have never allowed their territories or airspace to be used for unmanned aerial vehicle attacks against targets in Russia.”
Addressing the diplomatic dimension of the issue, Budrys added: “The Baltic states have formally rejected these claims by clearly communicating them to the chargés d’affaires of Russian diplomatic missions in Tallinn (March 27), Riga (March 31), and Vilnius (March 27). Despite the official response, Russia continues to spread falsehoods.”
Reiterating his call to Russia, Budrys concluded: “Instead of continuing its malicious information operations, Russia must end its war of aggression against Ukraine and fully withdraw its armed forces from all internationally recognized territories of Ukraine. The Baltic states stand in full solidarity with Ukraine.”
