Araghchi: Attempts to reinstate UNSC resolutions are invalid
Tehran, July 20 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi declared that any attempt to reinstate United Nations Security Council resolutions is invalid and null.
In a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the President of the Security Council, EU High Representative Kaja, and members of the UN Security Council, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi explained that the E3 countries (Germany, France, and the United Kingdom) have no legal, political, or moral basis to activate the mechanisms under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and UN Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015).
Araghchi stated, “These countries' political and material support for the recent unjustified and illegal military aggression by the Israeli regime and the US, their rejection of the JCPOA's core elements, and their longstanding failure to meet their obligations have effectively removed them from the status of ‘participants’ in the JCPOA. Therefore, any attempt to reinstate the annulled Security Council resolutions is invalid and null.”
