A notable decline was recorded across global markets
Istanbul, October 22 (Hibya) - Most major stock market indices monitored globally traded in positive territory, while overall risk appetite in the markets increased. In addition to the upward trend in United States markets, Germany's DAX index, one of the leading indicators of European stock markets, attracted attention after closing the day with a strong gain of 1.35 percent.
As investor confidence in the markets recovered, the S&P 500 VIX index, which measures volatility in financial markets, recorded a clear decline of 3.64 percent. The fall in the fear index to 16.68 indicated a weakening perception of short-term risk in equity markets.
Among other international indices, Canada's S&P/TSX gained 0.60 percent, while Mexico's S&P/BMV IPC advanced 1.43 percent. The global MSCI World index, which measures the overall performance of stock markets worldwide, closed nearly flat at 4,951.57 points, recording a very limited loss of 0.03 percent.
