Von der Leyen: Regional defense preparedness and economic security are being strengthened
Brussels, May 26 (Hibya) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made a statement regarding efforts to enhance regional defense capacity and economic security.
Von der Leyen evaluated issues related to regional defense and economic security.
Von der Leyen said, “We are strengthening defense preparedness and economic security in the region.”
Referring to financial support, von der Leyen stated, “We are doing this through billions of euros in support provided by SAFE, cohesion policy funds, and the 28-billion-euro EastInvest Facility.”
Von der Leyen also said, “We will also work to close skills gaps, improve cross-border information sharing, and enhance early warning capacity.”
She noted in her statement that these efforts are being carried out within the framework of the “Eastern Flank Watch” initiative.
