Trump said in a statement on his social media account that the payments would be made to help cover Medicare Part B premiums. He said the funding would come from the Medicare Improvement Fund, claiming that the fund had not previously been used and had contributed to higher healthcare costs.

Trump said his administration aims to reduce healthcare costs for seniors by using the Medicare Improvement Fund and "Most Favored Nations" agreements.

Trump said he had pledged to protect Medicare and Social Security and argued that the policies of former President Joe Biden's administration had negatively affected these programs.

Trump also announced that refunds would be issued to 1 million Americans who, he said, had overpaid for plans under the Affordable Care Act.

Trump also referred to the congressional midterm elections, saying that if Republicans win the elections, U.S. citizens would receive a 5,000-dollar "Trump Dividend" payment.
