Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha commented on Switzerland’s decision to strengthen its sanctions regime in response to Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine.

Sybiha said Switzerland’s addition of 9 individuals and 45 entities to its sanctions list demonstrates that Russia’s aggression must have consequences and that coordinated international pressure on the aggressor must be increased.

Sybiha said each new sanctions package further restricts Russia’s ability to finance its war, sustain its military-industrial complex and circumvent existing restrictions, and thanked Switzerland for its principled position, solidarity with Ukraine and commitment to international law.

Sybiha said they expect all partners to maintain and increase sanctions pressure until Russia ends the war and a comprehensive and lasting peace is achieved.
