Sybiha: Russia is escalating attacks instead of pursuing peace
Kyiv, September 1 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said at least 8 people were killed in Russia’s overnight attacks on Kyiv, arguing that Moscow is not showing any genuine willingness to end the war.
Sybiha said residential areas and railway infrastructure were targeted in the attacks, adding that Russia continues to escalate tensions. Stating that Ukraine is ready to end the war on the basis of realistic conditions and fair terms, Sybiha said President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to meet without preconditions at a neutral location.
Calling on Western countries to increase economic pressure on Moscow, Sybiha urged the swift implementation of sanctions targeting Russia’s ballistic missile production and the continuation of efforts regarding the use of frozen Russian assets. Sybiha also said the sanctions legislation against Russia passed by the US Senate should be approved swiftly by the House of Representatives as well.
