Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha held a meeting with Ukrainian honorary consuls in the US.

Sybiha thanked the honorary consuls for their commitment to Ukraine, their work and the practical support they provide to Ukrainians in the US and Ukraine. Noting that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians live in the US, Sybiha said supporting Ukrainian communities is among the priorities.

Sybiha said honorary consuls should contribute to efforts to defend Ukraine, bring Ukrainian communities together and support the Ukrainian language and culture, adding that practical assistance for communities in Ukraine near the front line was also discussed.

Sybiha thanked them for initiatives supporting visits by Ukrainian children to the US and contributing to rehabilitation efforts in various regions of Ukraine.

Noting that expanding regional and economic cooperation is also an important priority, Sybiha said strengthening ties between regions, cities, businesses and communities in Ukraine and the US creates lasting connections between the two countries and new opportunities for Ukraine.

Sybiha said honorary consuls play an important role in conveying Ukraine's views in the US, adding that their ties with local communities and their knowledge help explain Ukraine's position, defend its interests and support Ukraine's efforts to end Russia's war and achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace.

Sybiha said: "We are one diplomatic team. Everyone who has the honor of representing Ukraine also bears the responsibility of strengthening our country and its voice."
