Radev: The Bulgarian Exarchate in Istanbul plays a key role in preserving national identity
Sofia, June 24 (Hibya) – Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev held a meeting with representatives of the Bulgarian Exarchate Orthodox Churches Foundation in Türkiye.
According to a statement from the Bulgarian Council of Ministers, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev met with representatives of the Bulgarian Exarchate Orthodox Churches Foundation in Türkiye.
The meeting focused on preserving Bulgaria’s cultural and spiritual heritage abroad and on efforts to support the Bulgarian community.
Radev stated that the Bulgarian Exarchate in Istanbul is “a key center for preserving national identity, language, culture, and spiritual traditions” for the Bulgarian diaspora.
The construction project currently underway on land belonging to the Exarchate was also discussed during the meeting. The parties considered the possibility of establishing a Bulgarian cultural center within the site, and it was noted that the Bulgarian state is ready to support the project through the Ministries of Culture and Tourism.
Radev said, “Such a cultural center will become an important hub for preserving Bulgarian identity abroad.”
