Qatar sends letter to the UN regarding Iranian attacks
Doha, March 4 (Hibya) – Qatar sent an official letter to the United Nations for the third time regarding Iran’s attacks on its territory.
Qatar sent an official letter to the United Nations for the third time, stating that Iran’s attacks on its territory constitute a violation of its sovereignty.
The letter, sent by Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, was delivered to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as well as to the President of the UN Security Council for March and the U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Michael Waltz.
The letter stated that Iran’s attacks on Qatari territory represent a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty and directly threaten its security and territorial integrity, emphasizing that this constitutes an unacceptable escalation that endangers the security and stability of the region.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defense announced that so far three cruise missiles, 101 ballistic missiles, 39 unmanned aerial vehicles and two SU-24 fighter jets had been detected, and that three cruise missiles, 98 ballistic missiles, 24 unmanned aerial vehicles and two SU-24 fighter jets were successfully neutralized.
The letter also stressed that the Qatari Armed Forces possess all the capabilities and means to protect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and will provide firm deterrence against any external threat.
Qatar strongly condemned Iran’s attacks and stated that, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, it reserves the right to respond proportionately to the nature of the attack in order to defend its sovereignty and national security.
