Pavel: Our state symbols unite us
Prague, September 28 (Hibya) - Czech President Petr Pavel said the country’s flag and national anthem strengthen shared feelings in society and that state symbols serve as reminders of history and common values.
Czech President Petr Pavel made a statement on the country’s state symbols.
Pavel said the flag accompanies people during celebrations, sporting successes and difficult periods for the country, stating: “Our flag accompanies us during celebrations, sporting achievements and moments when our country is being tested. The Czech national anthem can also evoke the same powerful emotions within us.”
Pavel said people may hold different views, adding: “We may have different opinions, but our state symbols unite us. They remind us of our history and the values for which the generations before us were ready to fight.”
Pavel expressed satisfaction that the stories of the state symbols are being told through a new exhibition, saying: “I am glad that their stories are now being told in the permanent ‘State Symbols’ exhibition at the Vítkov National Memorial.”
