Pakistan condemns Israel’s decision to expand settlement activities in the West Bank
Islamabad, February 16 (Hibya) - Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it strongly condemns the recent move by Israeli forces to convert certain areas of the West Bank into so-called “state property” and to expand illegal settlement activities.
In a statement, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry described such steps as a clear violation of international law as well as relevant United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, and said they must be rejected by the international community.
The statement added that the occupying power’s continued disregard for international law and its provocative actions undermine the prospects for a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.
“Pakistan calls on the international community to take concrete steps to end Israel’s impunity and ensure respect for international law,” the statement said.
Pakistan reiterated its full support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and for the establishment of an independent, viable and territorially contiguous Palestinian State based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
