In contrast, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index (HSI) fell 0.83 percent to 24,923.77 points, while India's Nifty 50 Index declined 0.66 percent to 24,027.35 points.
The mixed performance across Asian markets indicated that investors continue to price in expectations regarding global monetary policies and regional economic developments.
Gains in Japan and China supported regional indices, while selling pressure stood out in the Hong Kong and Indian markets.
