Leyen: Europe and the United Kingdom must move closer on security matters
Munich, 14 February (Hibya) - President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen highlighted the importance of the partnership between the EU and the United Kingdom on the 10th anniversary of Brexit.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen made remarks at the Munich Security Conference (MSC 2026) regarding the future of relations with the United Kingdom.
Stating that closer cooperation in critical areas such as security and the economy is a necessity, von der Leyen said, "Europe and the United Kingdom must move closer on security, the economy, and the defense of our democracies. Ten years have passed since Brexit, and our futures are more interconnected than ever."
Emphasizing the need for cooperation to protect shared values, von der Leyen concluded, "Therefore, being ambitious about our partnership is in the interest of us all."
