Leyen: EU firmly committed to Cyprus reunification
Brussels, July 17 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Union is firmly committed to the reunification of Cyprus, fully in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the EU’s principles, values, and legislation.
President von der Leyen emphasized that the EU remains committed to the reunification of Cyprus in accordance with international and European norms.
She stated that they strongly support the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Special Representative to restart negotiations, saying:
“The EU has an important role to play. We are ready to actively contribute to the UN-led process and to step up our efforts, including through the active involvement of UN Special Representative Johannes Hahn.”
