Tehran, August 15 (Hibya) - Iran rejected United States President Donald Trump's statement about declaring the Strait of Hormuz US territory.

According to CCTV, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the Strait of Hormuz belongs to Iran and that only Iran will decide whether the waterway is opened or closed.
Responding to Trump's remarks that he would declare the Strait of Hormuz US territory following Iran's defeat, Gharibabadi said the strait cannot be seized through a social media post, an aircraft carrier, a presidential decision or an election speech.
