IDF: Fallen soldiers of Unit 300 commemorated at ceremony in Ma’alot-Tarshiha
Jerusalem, August 21 (Hibya) - The annual memorial ceremony for the fallen soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) Baram Brigade (300) was held this week in Ma’alot-Tarshiha.
The annual memorial ceremony for the fallen soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) Baram Brigade (300) was held this week in Ma’alot-Tarshiha.
The ceremony was attended by 91st Division Commander Brigadier General Yuval Gez, Baram Brigade (300) Commander Colonel A., the families of fallen soldiers, as well as former and current commanders and soldiers of the brigade.
During the ceremony, soldiers who lost their lives while serving in the Baram Brigade were commemorated, while their families gathered with commanders and soldiers representing the brigade’s past and present.
91st Division Commander Brigadier General Yuval Gez said in his speech at the ceremony that the memorial was being held in the heart of the Upper Galilee, in the area where the brigade operates.
Gez said: “We are in the heart of the Upper Galilee, in the brigade sector, in a place that carries the memory of its finest sons. Today, the operational reality on the ground is clear: our forces’ operational control in the sector is deep and is advancing toward the communities.”
Gez argued that the Baram Brigade’s regular and reserve fighters, along with readiness units and residents of communities in the region, played an important role during the fighting, saying brigade members demonstrated determination, professionalism and courage.
Addressing the families of the fallen, Gez said they were determined to continue in the footsteps of the soldiers who lost their lives, adding: “With our deep commitment to continue on the path your loved ones walked, we carry the memory and the pain here.”
Baram Brigade Commander Colonel A., meanwhile, said the brigade has a long history.
Colonel A. said the brigade has operated for decades along Israel’s northern border with a sense of responsibility and duty to defend the country, adding that the Baram Brigade has been on the front line of the defense of the Western Galilee for 1,047 days.
Colonel A. said the brigade’s commanders and soldiers fought during this period, carried out defensive and offensive operations and served in the field, noting that the fallen are an inseparable part of the brigade’s institutional legacy.
Addressing the families of the fallen, Colonel A. said: “For us, the names of the fallen are part of the brigade’s legacy. For you, they are family members, and no words can fill this void.”
Colonel A. said the legacy left by the fallen would not live only in history books and memorial sites, but would continue in the brigade’s command philosophy, its way of fighting and the responsibility it assumes for the security of the north.
Colonel A. stressed that the Baram Brigade should be a unit that not only knows its objective but also remembers those who came before it.
Saying this understanding creates a link between the brigade’s past and its current missions, Colonel A. stated that the memory of the fallen would continue to live on in the brigade’s activities.
Continuing his remarks, Colonel A., on behalf of the Israeli forces, also addressed the brigade’s wounded and the soldiers who continue to bear the physical and psychological burden of the war, offering a message of support to wounded brigade members.
Colonel A. paid tribute to the fallen soldiers and their families and expressed the hope that the memory of the Baram Brigade’s fallen would be preserved forever.
The ceremony was held with messages commemorating the Baram Brigade soldiers who lost their lives, honoring their families and passing the legacy of the fallen on to future generations.
