Ghebreyesus: The mindset of aid dependency must end
Geneva, June 2 (Hibya) - World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the mindset of aid dependency must come to an end.
Dr. Ghebreyesus stated that if they want to build Africa, a change in mindset is needed.
He emphasized that as Africans, they have the responsibility to transition to a self-reliant future, saying: “The mindset of aid dependency must end.”
Ghebreyesus added: “Many African countries are facing serious challenges due to cuts in foreign aid, but many African leaders told me they also see this current crisis as an opportunity to move past the era of aid dependency and toward sustainable self-governance.”
