Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that he welcomed Nunavut Member of Parliament Lori Idlout’s decision to join his party.

Expressing his satisfaction with Idlout’s participation, Carney said: "I am honored to welcome Nunavut MP Lori Idlout to our Liberal caucus. Working in partnership to strengthen the North and Nunavut is essential to building a safer, more prosperous and more resilient Canada that offers sustainable economic opportunities for all Northerners."

Highlighting Idlout’s social advocacy throughout her career, Prime Minister Carney said: "Lori has dedicated her life to advocating for Nunavut’s potential and the urgent needs of its people, and despite representing a region as large as Mexico, she has in many ways become an exemplary community Member of Parliament."

Emphasizing the importance of this move within the government’s future vision, Carney concluded his statement by saying: "At this critical moment in our history, Canadians are coming together to build a strong future. Lori’s voice and leadership will make an invaluable contribution to this work within Canada’s new government."
