Budrys: Europe must act decisively to defend its values
Vilnius, March 12 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys announced that they fully support the European Commission’s decision to review the funding of the Venice Biennale in response to Russia’s plans to reopen its national pavilion.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys made a statement regarding the Venice Biennale and the European Union’s financial strategies in this context.
Expressing objections to Russia’s presence at the event, Budrys said: "Lithuania fully supports the European Commission’s decision to review the funding provided to the Venice Biennale if Russia continues its plans to reopen its national pavilion while the Russian aggressor continues its brutal war against Ukraine."
Budrys argued that Europe should take a clear stance on this issue, stating: "Europe must act decisively to defend its values; it should not only condemn such decisions but also use all available leverage to reverse them and prevent them from happening in the future."
