The 8th round of the Pakistan-France Joint Security Commission meeting was held in Pakistan's capital Islamabad on September 22, 2026.

The Pakistani side was led by Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Lieutenant General (Retired) Muhammad Ali, while the French side was headed by Secretary General for Defence and National Security Nicolas Roche.

The meeting featured high-level exchanges of views on issues related to security and defense cooperation. The sides also reviewed the current status of matters discussed at the 7th Joint Security Commission meeting held in Paris in 2022.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening and implementing cooperation in line with the 2023 Pakistan-France Bilateral Cooperation Roadmap. They also agreed to continue bilateral dialogue and contacts.

Regional security developments were also discussed, with emphasis placed on the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in addressing emerging security challenges. The sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in tackling security issues related to counterterrorism, drug trafficking, piracy and other forms of transnational organized crime.

The Pakistan-France Joint Security Commission was described as an institutionalized mechanism for consultations on security and defense matters. It was agreed that the next meeting would be held in France on dates to be mutually determined.
